used for Fatini coz dia selalu berebut dgn Haziq (so kalu jalan kena bawak 2 strollers)

but since ada Faris, we decided that this stroller not suitable for him cos takleh recline (Faris pon lom pandai duduk), BUT we still need a lightweight stroller (another stroller is bulky & heavy!!)

@ kenduri

neighbour depan rumah buat kenduri kawin anak dia...
anak sulung la katakan...
khemah sampai 5 buah = sepanjang 5 buah rumah lah jugak...
depan rumah aku pon dia boh nye khemah utk 'caterers' (abang caterer, kalu lebih lauk hulur2 la dalam pagar rumah saya ye.. hehheh)

kawasan rumah aku ni best sbb deret rumah aku (ada 8 rumah)
berdepan dengan 5 buah lagi rumah, walaupon mengadap sesama sendiri tp jalan
masing2 iaitu separated by 'longkang' atau lebih tepat tanah yang boleh bercucuk
tanam.. maknanye jarak rumah aku & neighbour depan rumah dipisahkan oleh 4
lane jalan dan kawasan tanah berpokok (kalu korang leh imagine lah) so kalu nak
letak kereta dpn rumah pon takde la ngacau rumah worang...

lagi best kawasan rumah sini sume jalan mati.. rumah aku 2nd last (err
angan2 nak amik rumah last aka rumah tepi tak kesampaian lah) so senang kalu
tetamu datang, leh parking gaya bebas...

and sebuah lagi depan rumah neighbour sebelah aku.. yang ni khemah utk 'live' band.. siap dgn speakers and drum, microphone sume bagai... (band manakah yg dijemput menyanyi agak nye?? Hujan kah?? Maksud saya band, tp hujan gerimis mmg dah turun pon..)

isk.. dapat ke Faris tido nih??? now ni dia dh selamat Zzzz.. baik la dia Zzzz sebelum 'band' memekak nanti...

so jab lagi leh makan nasik minyak.. owhh aku dh lama tak makan nasik minyak...

tp patut ke aku menjenguk rumah kenduri tu pagi2 ni ye?? Konon2 nak menolong?? Iskk aku sungguh tak pandai berjiran tetangga hal2 macam ni

DH plak on-call.. nak pegi makan kang, cuba tunggu dia balik (kalau tak busy) sbb takkan aku nak isik perut sendiri & meninggalkan anak2 & maid kat rumah kebuluran?? (tambah plak akak ni sogan poie sorang2.. kalu bawak anak, leh buat2 busy layan anak hahahah tactic!!)

okay... ai nak siapkan presentation utk Monday, siap kalu esok leh jalan2.. kalu idak jangan harap!! hahhaha

jam dah kul 5.45pm -- ku masih di opistal..

inilah nasib orang menumpang kereta orang... ehh nasib orang menunggu drebar...

cik abe ai tak abis keje lagi, terpaksa la ku menunggu.. tp okay jugak sbb ku dapat selesaikan case report #3 ku... yeayyyy... alhamdulillah

esok dah Jumaat -- owh sungguh sekejap rasenye...

minggu ni minggu yang agak sibuk sbb ku in-charge blood bench.. ye, fyi kalu kata in-charge blood bench mmg agak sibuk esp time pagi sbb nak kena tengok 'anak-anak' (read: kuman2) yang dibiak kan pd hari/malam sebelum.. pastu nak kena tepon wad, cakap dgn dr kat ward utk discuss ttg pt's management (eg antibiotics, further tests etc).. kadang2 tu penat memegang gagang tepon menunggu orang angkat atau naik lebam jari menekan nombor sbb asyik engaged je... (paham2 la pagi2 sume nak kena kasi settle kat wad tuh) sambil2 tu melayan panggilan2 drpd wad yang bertanya itu ini... owhh kengkadang rase cam receptionist pon ada...

tp apape pon, ku sangat suka keje ku especially bila berdiskusi dengan doktor2 di wad yang baik hati & 'mahu' berbincang ttg management patient... haku sgt tak suka kalu ada doktor2 yg mengambil kesempatan atau menganggap kami di lab tak de keje atau doktor 'low class'.. haku pon belaja sama macam u all jugak, 6 tawun jugak dok medikal skool, and now sama cam u ol jugak bertungkus lumus cuba menggenggam segulung lagi ijazah.. ewahh.. (apsal plak aku emo semacam nih??)

nway, apape pon, ku sangat suka dgn bidang yang ku ceburi...
sangat lah ku tak sangka buah cempedak menjadi nangka yang aku akan pilih MIKROBIOLOGI sebagai bidang kepakaran ku...

sebeno nya DH yang plan nak amik microb, aku nak jadi 'pakar O&G'.. tp ntah camane, masa dapat form utk apply trainee lecturer post @ microb dept, DH tak nak, so aku 'mencuba lah nasib'... dah rezeki agaknye, ku dapat post ni dan mula 'bercinta' dgn bidang ni... and nyata sekali ku memang jatuh chenta....

hahahah...

DAN ku tidak pernah menyesal meninggal kan wad kerana ku ada prioriti ku sendiri -- ku mahu lebih masa utk diri sendiri dan keluarga dan ternyata pilihan ku tepat... dan pada masa yg sama, ku masih dapat buat apa yang ku suka iaitu bidang klinikal & patients' management...

okay tu je, DH dah selesai and kami nak balik... babai

MY HAPPY WHEEZER

HAPPY WHEEZERS = happy baby, but having wheeze

what it is exactly??

This is a condition in which a child, usually under 1 year old, has a chronic, persistent or intermittent wheeze, heard without a stethoscope, but is happy and smiling, not at all distressed.

It is thought that inflammation and oedema account for a more significant part of the airway obstruction in the very young child and hence bronchodilators are less effective.

The diagnosis "Happy wheezer" is thus for the most part a psychological reassurance, both for the parents and the physician. However, there is debate as to what the smiling actually means and whether is important to monitor oxygen levels in this apparently benign condition.

this happened to Faris since Monday.. but monday evening, he had wheeze but not really a happy one lah.. he looked 'uncomfortable' with the wheezing.. i'd partly blame the cold weather and rain in Cheras since morning and partly the 'secretions' that he had since God-knows-when..

i gave him syrup Ventolin, partly resolved but still wheezing..
when i listened to the chest -- wallahhh.. prolonged expiratory phase, rhonchi (wheezing) and also crepitations... temp - normal.. chest - subcostal recession but no laboured breathing..

i just watch an eye on him..
thank Allah, feeding OK, sleeping also OK. He was not cranky but i knew he was uncomfortable..
around 9.30pm, the wheezing almost gone.. and he slept soundly through the night.. alhamdulillah

but yesterday around 10am, my maid called up and
told me "Faris bernafas macam semalam la kak"

alamak.. my DH had a class in UM, and i stucked 'carless' (we carpooled today and he had the car keys)..
but later maid said, he slept ok after had his EBM.

@ 2pm, after DH finished his class we brought him to A&E..
his lungs had generalized rhonchi & creps.. so he had a nebuliser...
alamak.. payah nye nak bagi... he cried all the way.. cian nengok!!
then when the MO reviewed, lungs were clear, so he was discharged.

But then @5pm, when we were just about to leave the hospital ground, he wheezing again... huwarghh i'd blame the air-cond (in the car) this time (cos i left him with daddy in the car for 10 mins before i managed to 'cabut lari ' from bosses who were having discussion in front of the pintu jabatan)


so we went back to the A&E.. when examined, he still have the rhonchi and creps... (owh my poor baby...)
but no respiratory distress..
and he is the most happiest patient in the ER at that time.. ( I thanked Allah for that)

he had another nebs -- this time no crying at all.. the trick was -- i let him 'take' the mask voluntarily.. and being mummy's good boy, he was 95% compliant with the nebs.. (fuuhhh lega, at least i can guarantee he gets most of the medication)

after review, still generalized wheeze and creps.. so another nebs after half an hour.. (huwarghh kena tunggu lagi...)
so we waited, whilst i breastfed him.. then he slept..
this time much easier, with him soundly asleep, the nebs gets directly into his nostrils.. luckily the 'sound' of the gas did not scare him (or woke him up)..
after that, the lungs were clear.. alhamdulillah we went home.. cian kakak & abang (who cried gila-gila when we left the home with Faris)

last night, he was OK -- no more wheezing but he is still a HAPPY baby like always...

this morning, before i left -- i listened to his chest, alhamdulillah clear... creps also gone..
"hope that was our last visit to the asthma bay ok my dear Faris... "

so, the bottomline is:

if u are worried, just bring ur child to the nearest hospital... among the signs of respiratory distress (which necessitate emergency or immediate treatment) are:

- difficulty in breathing

- increased respiratory rate (normal : 20-40 per minute (infants), 20-30 per minute for preschool children)

- cyanosis (blue discoloration of face/extremities)

- fever, fits

- wheezing (not a happy one)
- use of accessory muscles eg neck muscles

- nasal flaring (idung kembang kempis bukan kerana dipuji )

- subcostal recession, intercostal recession

- chest indrawing


errr.. these are among the signs that i can still remember... uhh.. i tak buat Paeds rotation, so my knowledge agak kureng.. sorryyyyy.....

Haziq is potty trained

finally at his age of 33 months (2 years + 9 months)

i've tried to potty trained him during weekends (when maid not around), but once 'accident' ku malas nak layan so terus pakai kan CD balik.. ponek la nak mengemop je keje nye

now when maid is back, he is fully trained.. err accident did happened of course.. paling tak larat tu when he poo pooed (read: cirit ok) on my carpet.. huwarghhh bau dah la menariks!! sib baik ada maid hahaha

now i'm confidently announced he is potty trained @ daytime.. tido pakai lah of course...

hmm.. sebab utama i want to PT him sbb CDs for him were very limited. Most of my CDs are one-size so mostly dah 'turun' kan pada Faris..
and aku pon malas nak sopping CD lagi ye ke?? -- kalu nak belikan dia kena carik sized CD meaning the expensive, US-made CDs isk.. tak nak beli lagi.. cukup lah tu


now, more money saved on diapers... and no more shopping CDs ye mummy Norley!! (banyak dah CD tuh!!).. and now i'm thinking -- patutkah ku let go separuh daripada CD2 ku?? atau patutkah ku simpan je utk adik Faris?? (fuhh 'adik Faris'?? NGERIS aku denga ok...)

remember this entry?? this is wat i was talking about.. can u see the 'bands'?? like i said earlier -- band 1, 2, 5 & 6 were positive... NC = negative control i cant get positive control-- i have to buy 'em.. the precious strains are not cheap ok.. but this is more than enuff for a starter... *grin* ---

cenyum sampai tinge

ye.. petang tadi tepat kul 4.15pm aku telah cengih sampai tinge...
sungguh puas hati.. my hard work from 8.30am was paid off...

fuhh sapa tak sengih kalu 1st time buat PCR - menjadik and positive..

hahahha tulah citer best aku hari nih...

dari kul 8.30am aku dok lab biomol tuh...
from DNA extraction...
to mengira nak tuka micromol (umol) to pmol... (pening wooo)
to pipetting the primers, MasterMix etc...
to running the PCR... (errr that was by machine lah)...
then run on gel electrophoresis...

and the BEST when read under UV light.. wallahhh... sample 1,2,5 & 6 POSITIVE... (err.. actually 1&2 was the same sample, and 5&6 sample sama gaks).. i did 'em in duplicates (1 was old sample & 1 was newly 'sub' sample)...

yang penting -- there were 2 out of 3 ESBLs strains were CTX-M type...

hmm.. best best...

nanti aku upload gamba gel kat sini...
saje nak share 'happy' aku ngan sume w'pon ada yang tak paham apa yang aku cakap hahahha

BUT... i have 403 strains to do PCR.. tapi takpe, pas dapat this +ve results, aku terus rase semangat.. cam esok nak buat lagi PCR.. hehehhe
